Animals

Animaru Guard is an animal shelter in Niigata that temporarily protects dogs and cats that have lost their owners and abandoned dogs and cats, and keeps them in a safe, secure and optimal environment.

We are also actively engaged in transfer activities to connect dogs and cats with people who will become new families while protecting them.

In addition, we also operate a completely private room and a pet hotel with a veranda.

ARK aims to form a network of people who love animals, believe in sharing their lives with them, and who work actively to rescue them from suffering.

JCN was founded by American expats, who had been living in Japan, teaching English, and helping cats since 1993. They started the group after having had success helping the cats in their own community through TNR, a method of population control in which stray cats are trapped for neutering and returned to the location. When they first arrived in town there were very sad cases of sick and dying cats, all over the community, and they found this completely intolerable.

Our aim is to build a community in which companion animals can live free from suffering or cruelty. Our activities include rescue, care and re-homing of stray, abandoned, abused and neglected animals.  We also promote spay/neuter and responsible pet ownership through education and supportive means.

We are a 100% volunteer run shelter whose mission is to care for and adopt out unwanted animals. PAWS supports CFAY by educating the community about controlling the feline population and responsible pet ownership.  Operating on the US Naval Base in Yokosuka, Japan. PAWS is the only military-affiliated animal rescue organization and shelter in the Kanto Plain region.

A no-kill shelter operated by the Cherubims NPO, in Okinawa. We are a private, non-profit organization and receive no support or funding from the government. Currently, we care for about 60 dogs over 200 cats at our facility. Our shelter residents come from all walks of life, some are relinquished by their owners, some are rescued from being gassed at the local animal control center, and some are strays who were abandoned. Regardless of how they end up at the shelter, Animal Garden provides a safe haven where the animals receive love and care and get a second chance at life.

SALA means Save  Animals   Love  Animals.  Although we have a so-called "pet boom" in Japan, it is said that the number of the dogs and cats captured at the public animal protection centers due to owners' carelessness, irrisponsibility or egoistic selfishness is 800,000-900,000. Quite very few of them can return to their owners or find new adoption families.

Picchio (meaning woodpecker in Italian) has been operating “Nature Tours” and conducting “Asian Black Bear Conservation” in the thriving resort town of Karuizawa since its establishment in 1992.  As an advocate for responsible tourism, our expertly guided nature watching tours provide visitors with the opportunity to get closer to nature and all its wonders without doing any harm to the surrounding environment.

Since the establishment of Jigokudani Yaen-koen in 1964, it has been a worldwide popular place for watching the bathing monkeys in a hot spring and for ecological observation of researchers or photographers, and some of them who visited here have accomplished certain results in the area.
